The Velammal brand of educational institutions has been a part of the Mogappair landscape for quite a while. The Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair West (State Board) has a 45,000+ sq. ft. campus and offers classes from LKG to Class 12. A CBSE School called Velammal Vidyalaya was started in 2008 and is located in Ayanambakkam.

The Schram Academy is a popular CBSE school just 5 minutes away from S&P’s projects in Ayanambakkam. There is a bigger campus located in Maduravoyal too, which is around 3.5 km away. Schram uses the best of ‘Montessori and kindergarten methods’ in the early years and is known for incorporating lots of co-curricular activities into students’ routines.

The SBOA brand of schools has been prevalent in this part of Chennai since the 1980s. SBOA has a 4000- student strong Matriculation school as well as a CBSE School (SBOA School and Junior College) which are approximately 7 km away from S&P’s project.

Best restaurants in and around Ayanambakkam and Mogappair West

Let’s start with a good vegetarian restaurant Midstreet, located opposite Spartan School, Mogappair. While Midstreet is known for its desserts, you can get fast food and street food as well. We hear their Paapdi chaat and Pav Bhaaji are excellent.

For those of you that feel like eating North Indian non-vegetarian food, Grill Ministri might interest you. With both vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffets, Grill Ministri has a good ambience and is quite affordable. If you’re really hungry and want food fast, you know where to go. The restaurant is located in Mogappair West. For the more traditional types, Mogappair West also has old favourite Buhari’s and new kid on the block Dindigul Thalappakatti if you’re in the mood for biryani.

For your sweet tooth, there’s a new favourite in town called The Table in Maduravoyal, just 3 km from S&P Living Spaces and S&P Essense. The trend of desserts in jars has taken India by storm and this joint has capitalized on it. Try their Red Velvet Cream Cheese Cake; you won’t regret it. Or if you’re in the mood for something that’s home baked, go to Casa Dolce in Mogappair. Their juicy, chocolaty brownies are to die for.

Temples in and around Ayanambakkam and Mogappair West

Just 4 km from S&P’s projects, you have a very popular and revered temple, Sri Santhana Srinivasa Perumal Temple in Mogappair West. From it’s own website, here’s what the temple is known for:

“The Santhana Srinivasa Perumal Temple is dedicated to Sri Vishnu as Santhana Srinivasa Perumal along with the Divine Mother Shakti as Santhana Lakshmi Thayar. It is believed that the main shrine of the temple possesses the magical power of granting parenthood. Many have benefited and have been blessed with a child after visiting the shrine of Sri Santhana Srinivasa Perumal.”

Besides the Santhana Srinivasa Perumal Temple, you will also find the Sri Karpageswarar Shiva Temple and the Kari Vardaraja Perumal Temple nearby. The former is located in Mogappair while the latter is located in Nerkundram.
